A most impressive Arts and Crafts mantel clock in the Gothic style, retailed by W Batty & Son of Manchester and Southport,
 circa 1880.  The mahogany lancet case is surmounted by carved, gadrooned finials and has cluster columns to the front corners.  The stepped plinth has gadrooned moulding and feet.  To the side are lancet-shaped sound frets backed with silk.   The blue and white dial has a central decoration of leaves and berries and Arabic numerals.  There are gilt spade and poker hands, a gilt bezel and facetted glass.  Beneath the dial is a fielded panel with a carved leaf decoration to the centre.    

The two train movement by Winterhalder and Hofmeier movement strikes the hours on a gong and  has ting-tang quarter striking.    

The clock has been fully serviced and is guaranteed for 2 years
